Overview
Open the Localization tab. In the ribbon, you can see several sections: Selected Item, Basket and All Items.
Selected Item section includes action buttons for the item currently selected in the content tree.
Basket section displays its current state and includes action buttons such as 'Check Out' and 'Empty' for managing its contents.
All Items section provides action buttons for managing all items requested for translation.
Below, you'll find information on how to create and manage translation projects.
Adding content to the basket
The iLangL extension for Sitecore provides a high level of granularity for managing translation requests.
There are several options for adding content to the basket:
1. Quick item order: adding a content item without its components to the basket.
2. Components order: adding page components of a content item without the item itself to the basket.
3. Batch order: Adding subitems (related items) of a content item to the basket.
Quick item order
1. Click on the item icon to choose it.
2. Click the Add button in the Selected item section.
3. The item is now in the Basket.
After adding all the required items, continue to the Checkout Basket section to learn how to check out the basket.
Components order
1. Click on the item icon to choose it.
2. Click the Add Components button Selected item section.
3. Select components that you need to add to the Basket.
To view the fields included in a page component, click the chevron icon in the Details column. Under the Included fields heading, you'll find the field names followed by their respective content types in brackets.
If you need to exclude specific component fields from the translation order, click the X icon near the fields you want to remove. The excluded fields will then be listed under the Excluded fields heading.
If you accidentally excluded a field, you can restore it to the Included Fields list by clicking the X next to the field in the Excluded Fields list.
In Sitecore, certain page components are included in the layout while others are not. To view which components are part of the layout, apply the Included in layout filter.
Note: The Included in layout filter settings will be saved for future projects for the specific user.
Check if the version of the source content is selected correctly. By default, it shows the latest version. But in some cases, you may need to send another version for translation.
4. Click Add to Basket.
Batch order
1. Click the item icon in the content tree to select it.
2. Click the Add Subitems button in the the Selected Item section.
3. Select subitems that you need to add to the basket.
When you select an item using a checkbox, you'll see the dropdown that offers you several options:
- Include layout page components: only the page components included in the layout will be added to the project along with the selected item.
- Include all page components: all page components will be added to the project along with the selected item.
- Exclude page components: only the item itself, without its components, will be added to the project.
Note: The option you select will be saved for your next order.
To see which fields and page components are included in a subitem, click the chevron icon in the Details column.
Regardless of the option you select in the dropdown (Include layout page components, Include all page components, Exclude page components), you can still customize the components by checking the corresponding checkboxes in the Included components table.
In the Included fields list, you can see the name of the field and its content type in brackets.
To exclude specific fields from the order, click the X next to the fields you want to remove. These excluded fields will appear in the Excluded fields list. To restore them to the Included fields list, click the X next to the fields you want to add back.
In the Included components table, you'll find page components included in the subitem. You can also customize which field of a page component to include or exclude in localization.
Check if the version of the source content is selected correctly. By default, it shows the latest version. But in some cases, you may need to send another version for translation.
4. Click Add to Basket.
Basket checkout
Once all the content items that need to be translated are added to the Basket, you can proceed to check out.
1. Click Checkout in the Basket section.
2. At the Content step, you can still customize the content by excluding fields, page components, and items or changing the version of the source content.
To remove an item or a page component from the Basket, check the item and click Remove from Basket.
If you see a strikethrough item name, this means that the item itself is not included in the translation order, but its page components are. To include the item too, enable the toggle in the Include column.
And vice versa. If you need to exclude the item but leave its components in the order, disable the toggle in the Include column.
After reviewing the content and ensuring everything looks good, click Next.
3. Select the Service — a collection of predefined settings used to process your translation project.
4. Specify the Requested due date (optional). It is the date by which you expect the project to be completed.
Translators can view this date in the Localization Hub. In the Jobs in All items section, this date appears in the Due column within the table listing all jobs. Once translators set the actual due date, the Due column will automatically update to reflect the revised timeline.
For new projects: The requested due date is assigned to both the entire translation project and all jobs created within it.
For existing projects: If you add jobs to an existing project, the requested due date applies only to the new jobs and does not affect the overall project due date.
4. Choose the Project Type.
Personal Project — a type of project where only the user who created it can add more content for translation. Other users cannot contribute to this project.
Shared Project — a type of project where all users can add more content for translation until it is moved to the "In Progress" state.
5. Decide whether to create a new project or add content to an existing one for translation. A unique number will be automatically assigned to the project. For a user-friendly title, you can provide a name, but this option is available only for new projects.
6. Select the Cost Center. If no Cost Centers are visible, it means none are attached to the selected Service.
7. Add the Briefing to the project (optional). It will be sent to the translation tool through the Localization Hub as instructions for translators.
If you are using Phrase, you'll find the briefing in Notes. Just click on any segment to see a Note.
If you are using memoQ, you'll find the briefing by clicking View Pane in the View tab.
Read more about adding and editing instructions for translators in this article.
8. Immediate order launch toggle. If enabled, the content will be transferred to the CAT tool at once, and the project will be moved to the next workflow step (usually "In Progress" but it depends on your workflow settings), so new jobs can not be added to the project. If disabled, the content will be stored in Localization Hub until manually or by Hub's automation is pushed to the CAT tool.
9. Choose the target languages.
10. Review the project details and click Confirm.
