How to deliver translations and publish the translated content in Optimizely (Episerver)

Translations can be delivered to Optimizely either automatically or manually, depending on how your Localization Hub is configured. Regardless of how translations are delivered, they always need to be published manually before becoming visible on your live site.

Automatic vs. Manual Delivery

Automatic Delivery

In most setups, translations are automatically delivered to Optimizely once the job is completed in the Localization Hub. This automation is configured during the initial product setup.

💡 Not sure if automation is enabled? Ask your admin to confirm.

Manual Delivery

If automation is not enabled — or if a translation was redelivered after a review — you'll need to manually pull the translation into Optimizely using the Get Translations function.

Retrieving Translations Manually (Get Translations)

Follow these steps to manually pull translated content into Optimizely:

1. Open the Localization Hub gadget in Optimizely. Navigate to the Jobs tab. 

 2. By default, the list shows jobs related to the currently opened content item. To view all jobs, change the filter to All Content.

3. Select the jobs you want to retrieve. Click Get Translations. 

The translated content will now appear in Optimizely but will not be published yet.

Publishing 

There are two ways to publish translated content in Optimizely, depending on whether you're working with translation jobs or reviewing unpublished language versions directly within a page or block.

Method 1: Job Publishing

Once translations are delivered (automatically or manually), you can publish them directly from the Jobs tab in the Localization Hub gadget.

When to use this:

• You’re managing content at the job level

• You want to selectively publish specific translation jobs

How to publish:

1. In the Localization Hub gadget, go to the Jobs tab.

   

2. By default, the list shows jobs related to the currently opened content item. To view all jobs, change the filter to All Content.

   

3. Select the jobs you'd like to publish. Click Publish to make them live.

   

💡 This method does not scan for unpublished child blocks or related content — it only works with selected jobs.

Method 2: Checking and Updating Latest Language Versions

This method helps you review all unpublished language versions of a page or block — including nested blocks and related items — before publishing.

When to use this:

• You’re viewing a page or block and want to check whether any of its language versions or related items have unpublished changes, so you can publish some or all of them at once.

How to publish:

1. Open the page or block  whose language versions you want to publish.

2. Click the Publish button in the toolbar.

3. The system will scan for:

• Language versions where the latest content has not yet been published

• Related content and child blocks that have unpublished updates

Select the languages and content you want to publish.

Use filters to refine the list if needed.

Click Next. 

4. After selecting all the necessary items and languages, review the summary carefully and click Publish to complete the process.

A confirmation message will appear once publishing is complete.
