In Localization Hub, it's possible to integrate with the following Machine Translation engines:
- Google Translation
- Amazon Translation
- Systran Translation
- Phrase MT Portal
To start using Machine Translation you need to perform the following steps:
1. Connect the Machine Translation engine to the Workspace
2. Create a configuration for Machine Translation engines.
3. Assign a configuration to the required Services.
Connecting Machine Translation to the Workspace
1. Open the Workspace Settings and navigate to the Integrations tab.
2. Find the Machine Translation card to connect to the Workspace and click Connect.
3. Select the MT engine type. This can be Google Translation, Amazon Translation, Systran Translation or Phrase MT Portal.
4. Depending on your MT engine, you need to provide different connection information.
For Google Translation: Specify the API key. Read how to generate the API Key for Google Translate.
For Amazon Translation: Specify the Access key, Secret key and select the Region. Read how to generate an API key for Amazon Translation.
For Systran Translation: Specify the API key. Read how to generate an API key for Systran Translation.
For Phrase MT Portal: Enter your username and account password. Additionally, provide your Organization ID.
To find your Organization ID, follow the steps:
1) Log in to Phrase and navigate to the profile icon at the top right of the page.
2) Select Settings and then Profile.
3) Click on the Personal tab and locate Organizations.
4) Hover over the info icon next to your organization's name to view and copy your Organization ID.
5. Click Test Connection.
6. Provide the Name for your Machine Translation engine integration. If you are going to use multiple accounts of one MT engine type, you might need to provide a unique name to distinguish those accounts.
7. Click Add to connect Machine Translation to the Localization Hub
8. After you click Add you will be redirected to the MT engine's settings.
9. Additional Parameters are used to provide additional instruction to the MT engine during machine translation content processing. Additional parameters depend on your MT engine type.
Google Translation Additional Parameters
You can choose the Translation Mode:
- Default
- Base Model
- Neural Machine Translation
Note: the translation modes are derived from the Google Translation system. To learn more about the models, contact Google Translation support.
Amazon Translation
- Brevity: reduces the length of the translation output for most translations.
- Formality: sets the formality level of the translation output.
- Profanity masking: masks profane words and phrases in the translation output.
Phrase MT Portal
10. Besides the Name for MT engine integration, you can also add the Description to add even more information on how this MT engine integration should be used.
11. In the Language Mapping section, you can specify which MT engine languages you want to use in the current integration and map those languages with languages from Content Management System.
12. To start using the current MT engine settings you need to activate it by enabling Active toggle.
13. Enable the Default toggle if you want this MT engine integration to be auto-assigned to all enabled languages when a new configuration is created.
Note: when you have only one MT engine integration, it will be used as Default.
14. Once all is ready you can click Save to apply changes.
15. If you want to replace the MT engine type, open the dropdown and choose another MT engine type. You'll see a warning that after changing the MT engine type, the newly selected MT engine will be connected to all services to which the previous MT engine was connected.
You need to use this option if you'd like to quickly reassign MT engine type (Google Translate, Amazon or Systran) to the same services that the previous MT engine was linked to.
If you want to change MT account without changing the MT engine, press (the pencil icon) near the Connect to [MT Engine Name] and change the API key and other data accordingly.
Create a configuration for Machine Translation
1. Once the Machine Translation Engine is connected and activated, you should see the Configurations section.
2. To create a new configuration press New Configuration.
To update an existing configuration, click (the pencil icon).
3. In the new configuration specify the configuration's Name.
4. In the Machine Translation Mapping section, you can define, for each workspace language, which Machine Translation engine integration is assigned for processing. If you don't see the required MT engine integration in the list, you might need to check if you enabled the corresponding languages in Step 11 above.
5. Enable Configured toggle if you want to use this configuration immediately after saving.
6. Make sure that all the settings are applied correctly in the configuration. Click Save. If the Configured toggle is not activated, the configuration will still be saved but you will not be able to use the configuration.
Connecting MT engine's configuration to Service
Now, when you have at least on active configuration, connect it to the translation Service on the Service's page in editing mode. Read more on how to create and edit Services here.
1. Find the Workflow block in the Service and assign the Machine Translation tool and configuration to the required workflow steps.
2. When MT configuration is connected to a Service, you'll see this Service in the list in the Integrations tab (Machine Translation's card) and in the MT integration configuration settings.
