Linked accounts help one person use the same Localization Hub account across different sign-ins, CMS environments, invitations, or access methods.
For example, you may first get access by accepting an email invitation or creating an account directly in Localization Hub. Later, you may open Localization Hub from a CMS using a different CMS sign-in. Instead of keeping separate Localization Hub accounts, you can link that CMS sign-in to your existing account.
In this article, you will learn:
- when account linking may happen
- how to review account connection requests
- what happens when you approve, reject, or restore a request
- how to view and remove linked accounts
When account linking may happen
Account linking may happen when you access Localization Hub from a CMS or another connected system, and the email address from that sign-in is already used by an existing Localization Hub account.
In this case, Localization Hub creates an account connection request. The existing account owner must approve the request before the sign-in is linked.
Account linking may be needed when:
- you use Localization Hub from different CMS environments;
- you use different CMS sign-ins;
- you were invited to Localization Hub by email and later access it from a CMS;
- you already have a Localization Hub account and another sign-in tries to use the same email address.
Note: Account linking is used to avoid creating multiple separate Localization Hub accounts for the same person.
Review account connection requests
To review account connection requests:
Open My Account.
Review the requests under Account connection requests.
Each request shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Signed in as | The external sign-in that requested access. |
| Workspace | The workspace connected to that sign-in. |
| Requested | When the request was created. |
| Status | The current request status, for example Pending or Rejected. |
Approve a connection request
Approve a request only if you recognize it as your own sign-in.
After approval:
- the sign-in is linked to your Localization Hub account;
- signing in from that CMS opens your existing Localization Hub account;
- workspace access available through that CMS sign-in is added to your account;
- actions performed after linking are recorded under your main Localization Hub account;
- your current access is not removed or reduced.
Important: Approve a connection request only if you recognize the sign-in and workspace. After approval, that sign-in can open your Localization Hub account directly.
Note: After accounts are linked, activity is shown under the main Localization Hub account name.
Reject a connection request
Reject a request if you do not recognize the sign-in or workspace.
After rejection:
- the sign-in is not linked to your account;
- your current access does not change;
- the request status changes to Rejected.
Restore a rejected request
If you reject a request by mistake, you can restore it.
Note: Restoring a request does not approve it automatically. It only lets you review the request again and then approve or reject it.
View linked accounts
The Linked accounts table shows sign-ins already linked to your Localization Hub account.
Each linked account shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Signed in as | The external sign-in linked to your account. |
| Workspace | The workspace connected to that sign-in. |
| Status | Whether the linked account is verified. |
Remove a linked account
You can remove a linked account if you no longer use it or do not recognize it.
After removing a link:
- that sign-in will no longer open your Localization Hub account;
- access added through that link may be removed;
- access you have directly, or through another linked sign-in, is not removed.
If you need to use the same sign-in again later, the connection must be approved again.
If you try to use an email address that belongs to another account
If you manually change your email address to one that already belongs to another Localization Hub account, the email cannot be saved.
Account connection requests are created during sign-in from a CMS or connected system. They are not created when you manually change your email address.
Contact your administrator if the accounts should be linked.
If you do not recognize a request
Do not approve account connection requests you do not recognize.
Reject the request if:
- you do not recognize the sign-in;
- you do not recognize the workspace;
- you did not try to access Localization Hub from that system.
Security note: If you are not sure whether a request is valid, reject it or contact your Localization Hub administrator.
Summary
Use linked accounts to keep your access under one Localization Hub account.
- Approve requests only when you recognize the sign-in and workspace.
- Reject requests you do not recognize.
- Restore rejected requests only if you rejected them by mistake.
- Remove linked accounts you no longer use or do not recognize.
