Content Analysis is a feature in Localization Hub that compares the current version of your content with the version that was last translated through the platform. It identifies what has changed and helps determine how much content needs to be translated again.
During analysis, each content item is examined for:
Untranslated pages – items that have never been translated into the selected target languages.
Untranslated blocks – child blocks that do not yet have translations.
New properties – fields added since the last translation.
Outdated properties – fields whose content has changed since the previous translation.
Unchanged content is marked with an Unchanged badge.
This allows you to decide whether you want to translate only updated content or the entire content item.
Why Content Analysis matters
Content Analysis gives you visibility and control over your translation scope by:
Showing exactly what changed since the last translation
Preventing unnecessary translation work
Reducing costs by sending only updated content
Providing an accurate word count based on changed fields
If Content Analysis is not used, all words in all selected content may be counted, which can increase word usage and translation cost.
Where Content Analysis is used
Content Analysis is used in:
Dynamic Projects – jobs are created automatically based on detected changes. During Dynamic Project creation, you can choose analysis criteria to define what should be included in the analysis scope.
Targeted Projects – analysis results are shown for reference, but jobs are created for all selected items.
All available analysis criteria are applied by default.
📖 Read more: How to create new projects.
Depending on your export settings, either all content or only changed content will be sent to the translation tool.
You can rerun Content Analysis when the project is in New or Analysis status to detect additional updates.
Viewing analysis results
After Content Analysis completes, the report shows:
Number of items and fields with changes, grouped by criteria
Word counts for changed fields
Date and time when analysis was last run
Job creation results (for Dynamic Projects)
These insights help you decide whether to proceed with translation, adjust the scope, or wait for more changes.
Availability
Content Analysis is available for most out-of-the-box connectors, including:
Optimizely
Sitecore
Contentful
Contentstack
It is enabled by default and can be turned off in Workspace Settings.
