In Localization Hub, content can be sent in both ways: manually and automatically.
In this guide, we are focusing on manual export.
How to send the content to a translation tool manually
1. First, you need to place a new translation order in Localization Hub or in CMS:
If you need to exclude specific fields from localization prior to sending the content to the translation tool, read this article.
If you need to provide instructions for translators, have a look at this guide.
2. Move the Order to the Workflow Step linked to the translation tool in Service settings. In most cases, this step is called In Progress, but this depends on the settings.
Note: If you don't know which Workflow step is linked to the translation tool, read this section first and get back to this one.
3. Click the transition button (the button name can differ depending on the settings) to move the Order to the necessary Workflow step. Sometimes you might need to go through several steps before reaching the Workflow step that is linked to the translation tool. This also depends on the Workflow settings.
When moving Order to the Workflow step linked to the translation tool, you'll see the transition page. Read the Transition page export section to find out how to send content for translation at this stage.
If you need to move Order to In Progress state but send the content for translation later, read Workspace export.
Transition page export
1. On the transition page that precedes the Workflow step that is linked to the translation tool (In Progress in our case), you'll see the content that will be exported to the translation tool and will be able to specify some additional parameters.
If you don't want to export content to the translation tool immediately, you can disable the corresponding toggle. You'll be able to export the content later.
2. You can assign the Order to a user and specify the Due date.
3. Grouping Jobs
You can also group the Localization Hub translation jobs to be in one translation tool job. If you check the Group checkbox and specify the number of translation tool jobs, the Localization Hub jobs will be grouped accordingly.
Example
As you can see, we have 9 Localization Hub jobs. If we group them into 3 translation tool jobs, each translation tool job will contain 3 Localization Hub jobs.
Here's how the grouped jobs will look in a translation tool.
It's also possible to group the content based on the number of words. If you want to limit the number of words in each translation tool job, you should check Group and specify the number of words by choosing the words option in the corresponding dropdown.
4. Once you are sure all settings are correct, click Confirm.
You can observe the progress of the export at the left sidebar below the menu items.
Workspace export
If you decided not to export the content immediately during the transition, you can export the content from the Order Workspace. The advantage of this export method is that you can send some jobs, not all Order jobs.
1. Choose jobs you'd like to send to the translation tool and click Export Jobs.
If you don't see the Export Jobs button, this means that the selected job can not be exported because it's already been exported.
3. On the export confirmation page, you can review the jobs one more time and group them if necessary as described in Grouping Jobs.
You can also remove some jobs from the transaction if necessary.
4. Click Confirm to export content.
How to find out which workflow steps are linked to a translation tool
To check which workflow step is linked to the translation tool, you need to find out to which Service the Order relates.
Then navigate to the Service settings and open the Service for editing.
And scroll to the Workflow section where you can find to which Workflow steps the translation tool is linked.
From the screenshot above, you can see that the Memsource translation tool is linked to the In Progress and Completed steps. This means that transfers between the Localization Hub and the translation tool can be performed only at those steps.
Once you know which step is linked to the translation tool, move the Order to the corresponding step.
