How to create a new translation project
1. Open the page for editing, go to Apps in the right sidebar, and select iLangL from the list (the name of the app can vary depending on your setup).
If translation projects have been previously created for this content entity, jobs will appear in a list.
2. Click the New Project button to create a new translation project.
3. Specify the project details.
- Service — a collection of predefined settings used to process your translation project.
- Requested due date. It is the date by which you expect the project to be completed.
Translators can view this date in the Localization Hub. In the Contentstack app starter’s page, this date appears in the Due column within the table listing all jobs. Once translators set the actual due date, the Due column will automatically update to reflect the revised timeline.
For new projects: The requested due date is assigned to both the entire translation project and all jobs created within it.
For existing projects: If you add jobs to an existing project, the requested due date applies only to the new jobs and does not affect the overall project due date.
- Project Type (Personal or Shared). Personal projects are seen only by their owners and users with admin rights. Shared projects can include jobs initiated by different users.
- New or Existing Project: Select New to create a new project. To add the job to an existing project, choose its number from the dropdown.
- Project Name: A unique number will be automatically assigned to the project. For a user-friendly title, you can provide a name, but this option is available only for new projects.
- Briefing. Instructions for translators that apply to all jobs within the project. These instructions are visible in the Localization Hub and translation tools.
If you are using Phrase, you'll find the briefing in Notes. Just click on any segment to see a Note.
If you are using memoQ, you'll find the briefing by clicking View Pane in View tab.
Read more about adding and editing instructions for translators in this article.
- Cost Center. Select a cost center from the dropdown. If no options are available, it means no cost center is linked to the Service or in case you selected the existing project.
- Immediate project launch. If enabled, the content will be transferred to the CAT tool at once, and the project will be moved to the next workflow step ("In Progress"), so new jobs can not be added to the project. If disabled, the content will be stored in Localization Hub until manually or by Hub's automation is pushed to the CAT tool.
Click Next.
4. Choose the content you'd like to send for translation. This can be the entry with all referenced items.
Or, the entry without references.
Or, references without the entry.
Click Next when the content is selected.
5. Select the target languages.
The table displays the statuses of previous projects for each language, along with the date when the status was assigned.
If no projects have been completed for a specific language, the status will be Never started.
You can also use filters to find Never started projects faster.
If you see the Outdated badge, it means the latest version of this entry has not been previously ordered for translation in a specific language and service. You may need to reorder it to keep your content up to date.
Click Next once ready.
6. Review the project details and click Confirm.
How to track project progress
Once the project is created, you have the following options:
- Return to the Home page to track job statuses.
- Create a new project (e.g., with a different service or language set)
- Navigate to the Localization Hub by clicking Details for more project and job details.
On the Home page, you can see the jobs and the statuses of the jobs.
You can also navigate to the Job page for more details, add instructions for a specific job, or exclude certain fields from localization. '
Note: These actions are only available when the job is in the New state and has not yet been sent to the translation tool.
By clicking Details, you can access the Localization Hub to view more information about all active and past jobs for the entry.
